This 110-hour requirement ensures that students receive a standardized amount of learning time for each credit they earn. The 110 hours typically include planned learning activities, excluding homework, designed to achieve the course’s curriculum expectations, according to the Ontario Ministry of Education.

Yes, students can take in-class high school courses as individual credits at CanSTEM Education. These courses are approved under the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) program and are ideal for students who prefer face-to-face learning with teachers. By enrolling in individual credits, you can complete or upgrade required subjects while working toward your OSSD in a traditional classroom environment.
Our in-person individual credit courses are best for students who:
- Need to upgrade marks for university or college admission.
- Prefer structured classroom learning with peer interaction.
- Want access to after-school help and one-on-one teacher support.
- Are completing their Ontario high school diploma (OSSD) and need only certain subjects to graduate.
These courses are also helpful for mature students returning to education who benefit from direct teacher guidance.
In-class courses at CanSTEM run on a fixed day-school schedule:
Classes are typically held Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Each course follows the 110-hour Ontario Ministry requirement.
Students benefit from smaller class sizes, personalized attention, and after-school tutoring support.
While we maintain this structured framework, our scheduling is flexible — students can arrange their classes at convenient times to balance school with work, family, or personal commitments.
This structured schedule helps students stay on track while earning recognized Ontario high school credits toward their diploma or post-secondary goals.
Yes, you can! Our online high school courses are available as stand-alone credits. This means you do not need to join a full-time program. For example, students often use this option to:
- Upgrade marks,
- Complete prerequisites, or
- Earn missing credits.
In addition, our online platform is simple to use and designed for independent learners.
Night School and individual online courses are ideal for many students. For instance:
- High school students who need one or two credits to graduate,
- Learners upgrading marks for college or university admissions,
- Adult learners returning to complete their OSSD, and
- International students needing specific Ontario credits.
Therefore, if you only need a few courses instead of a full-time load, this is the right choice.
Our online courses are very flexible. Students can:
- Study from home,
- Work at their own pace, and
- Book exams when ready.
This makes it easier to balance school with part-time work, sports, or family responsibilities. In other words, you stay in control of your learning.
